I have recently noticed a great deal of interest in information on building wooden wheelchair ramps. The only maintenance needed for vinyl decks is an occasional sweep during dusty days or mop ups during muddy days. It is easy to install and can withstand all types of weather. A vinyl deck’s color is consistent from all angles and won’t fade, making any painting, sealing, or staining treatments moot. As a deck, vinyl is pretty sturdy and won’t peel, fracture, or break apart. The only drawbacks with a vinyl deck are its cost factor and artificial appearance.

If you have a family home i.e. more than one bedroom, you are going to need somewhere for the kids to play out back. Some people, particularly those without children, consider replacing grass with attractive wooden decking or patio paving stones. This is bad news for the value of your property as it puts off families and if you want to get the highest price for your home you can’t afford to lose such a large chunk of the market.

There are some people who say that vinyl decking will cost more than wood decking. The material alone is more, expensive, but because of the lasting wear you get from vinyl over wood decking, vinyl wins in cost hands down. Also, wood decking is difficult to install. You may need to hire a professional to install wood decking, as every board is different, and requires specific techniques. It’s kind of like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. With vinyl decking, though, if you have basic carpentry skills, you will not need the help from a professional installer. Vinyl is very easy to install. And if you still choose to pay someone to install it, you should be charged less for installation, as it is much easier to install vinyl decking compared to its wooden counterpart.

Recycled Plastic Decking is easy to set up. It comes in a kit and can be hooked together in a few easy steps. There are different styles that a kit can come in, helping a person create their own unique deck shape and style. A deck that comes in a kit, will be easier to put together than a wooden one. There is no need to saw a plastic deck and there are no nails to push through the wood.

Then you will require something to hold the decking down. Nails or screws? Screws are almost certainly best because they will not come loose if the timber dries out. If you are using softwood, it will be alright to use stainless steel screws, but if you are using costly hardwood, then I would use brass screws.

Color should also not be forgotten. Plants, herbs and flowers can make your patio come alive. They not only create a relaxed ambiance but they’ll smell great too.
